SITT IN THINK IN

 

I have done a lot of reflecting about life in General in the last couple weeks. We (Marti & I) have been through a lot in the last ten years. Marti has gone through Cancer FIVE times and that has paid it’s toll on her. I had a Heart Attack and am suffering the results of Agent Orange after my trip to Viet Nam. Yes we are Lucky to be able to travel, well we did save for our future. We are now living the Life Style We choose to and Planned.

We  have Lost a couple of are closest Friends and that has taken a toll on both of us, cause Good Bye is For Ever !!

When you have Cancer(Marti)  or Heart problems and suffer the effects of Agent Orange. you realize the clock is running. I have never heard anyone say aren’t you glad you stayed home and saved your money. We did that to get to this place, now it our Time to Play !!!    

This year Marti got thru her Cancer tests OK well if that doesn’t sound like a good Thing You’re an Idiot !!! Then Marti got thru her Heart tests OK and we were Thankful for that. The Bad test was she needed the Roto Rotter we were afraid of that test as she was hav in problems. Good Old MartiJeen got thru that one too !!!

I have had a second MRI looking for a Brain Tumor I keep saying you must have a Brain first. Well so far I’m in some what good shape. Thank God for the excellent care from the VA !!! 

Ok I am sitt in Think in about Why people have to share views about how you should live your Life.

Number 1 if I want your opinion I will ask, so keep your opinions to your self if I didn’t ask Thank You !!

Some people just don’t like our Life Style (that is traveling this Great Country) I’m not asking you for Gas Money so Butt Out !!! We don’t need to hear Your Never Home !!

When Family ?? asks when you will be home  ?? Then has a party don’t expect us to drop our plans, as you won’t !!

There are times when I question our decisions about traveling. Why would we stop or should we stay home and be Miserable like others. We will keep going as long as we are healthy.

TWO SUMMER RALLYS

We off again to a couple rallies. We are members in two clubs, they both had rallies with in days of each other. The first was a Mobile Suite rally at the Goshen Fairgrounds'. They had over 150 units plus the factory brought out some new units. The Factory really stepped up too with two dinners a pile of door prizes too. Heck the club had a 50/50 raffle and the factory matched the funds raised. Three lucky people won $ 660 each that was sure a nice ride home with some Cash too. Wait I didn’t win !! The local Mobile Suite dealer had an Open House with Raffle Prizes and another meal. They also had four units for open house too.

I did have a problem as MartiJeen would not let me Trade Up Yet, maybe soon !! on Friday we had a Factory tour. We got an old tour guide that said he hadn’t do this in a while. I was surprised to see him doing a tour of HIS Factory. Our guide was the Owner of DRV himself. David said he was a little rusty at giving tours. Well I was really impressed to get a tour by an owner. Thanks David for taking the time with us, the poor guy did have to hear from a few Dumb people too. I kept my questions short.

This was the Best Owners Rally we have ever attended, People were very nice and we had a Great time too.

We rolled on to our chapter rally for our Escapee club at Starved Rock State Park.

We cooked on the Open Fire too. The American Favorite Hot Dogs, Hamburgers & Beans Love it !!!!!

We had a great time there as we saw some old friends too. I met a new RVer to the club. We helped him get backed in and hooked. Leo is an avid RVer with an older Motor home. I asked him what was the mileage on his rig ?? he told me it has 186,000 miles WOW that’s a lot of traveling too. Wait I should say Leo is 95 yrs. old and looked a lot younger. Heck I was looking while talking to some others and Leo was up on a ladder setting up his Ham Radio antenna. Leo was going to California for the winter. Way to Go Leo !!!  Sorry to say but the Camera went Dead so No Picks.

Our friends Jim & Phyllis (Mom) asked me to take over Membership for the club. Well I accepted the job. I have sent out a pile of e-mails to old members and to others trying to bring in some new RVers. Kind off like the old day’z of the VVA Vietnam Veterans of America 

HINES VA HOSPITAL

   Thru these Doors the PRICE OF FREEDOM IS VISIBLE HERE

Well here I go again. I’m sitting here thinkin what we Pay for Freedom. Well it’s getting close to Memorial  Day. I know in our proud country that means Sales at the Stores and hopefully a Family Picnic. Maybe as your walking around on the weekend and see an old Veteran or Young. Shake his or her hand and thank them for there service. You will feel better as you walk away and the Veteran will feel Great too.

This last month I have had 8 appointments at Hines Hospital or Kankakee Out Patient Clinic. I thank all the Drs. there for their fine care. Heck I get better care at the VA than private care expect my Heart Dr. Walking around Hines is different as years ago I was there with my Dad. I was fresh out of the service. Funny thing back in the seventy's if You were a Viet Nam Veteran you kept that to yourself. I was asked if I was a Baby Killer or Why didn’t I go to Canada ??? Well today every body likes the veteran, me too.   

   

I was doing some looking on the net for KIAs & wounded in wars.The price for Freedom ain’t Cheap. The cost was for WWII , Korea  and Viet Nam were over a Million and a half lives. Freedom ain’t Cheap !!

We have visited four National Cemetery's. The feels of walking up and down the lanes of head stones is an ire feeling. I was asked Why do you go ?? I answered a Show of Respect !!! a way to say Thank You !  

Traveling with a Big Dog and a Cat in our RV ???

We are often asked What do you do with Yogi and Gus when you travel. We taken with of course they are Family !! We travel in a Crew Cab truck so Yogi and Gus get the back seat Yogi in his bed and Gus in his Crate.

Hey they both are Real Good at begging too, yes that is something I have spent a lot of time training them too.

Yogi has swam in a lot of different places too. There are a couple that said No Dogs too.

Well Gus is Happy just to be Gus. Then of course Gus wouldn’t mind Biting anyone.

Ok I was on Popa’s laptop look in at the Pictures.What’s the deal I never saw all these places. I’m locked up in this steel can with Gus and Gunther is locked up next to us in his Motor home.

Ok here they are at the Blue Angles Museum in Florida. Wait I wanted to stay in the Hot trailer Again Right !!!!

We toured the Blue Angles Museum in Pensacola Florida. The best part was IT was Free !!!! Not much Free in Florida.

Ok here’s the part I didn’t know the Blue angles get Retired Aircraft. Meaning all war fair is stripped away and the ships are rebuilt. I’m sure these air craft are in better than new ship when they hit the fleet.

The Crew flew thru the building, glad the windows were open too.  Ok these were old jets hanging on display.

These old girls are waiting for a re build to get into the museum.

 

I always have a soft spot in my heart for these guy’z too, even if it say’z Navy on it.

Well I can say our trip to Florida was just great as for seeing the sights that was even Better. Going thru two military museums here in Fl. was really great. I can say as Always I’m Proud to be an American and a Veteran !!

Daytona International Speedway Florida

Well anyone who knows me knows I have Motor Oil in my Blood. I have loved cars and trucks all my life. Racing was always a dream too. I have Drag Raced and have Stock Raced, all small scale. We ran two cars at the old US 30 Drag Strip in Indiana, also a Stock Car at the old SantaFe Race Way in Willow Spring Illinois. I was under 21 so I had to sneak into the pits. I laded on the floor of the tow truck to get into the pits.

Well my love for speed and cars never left. I always loved racing. I loved to watch too as Nascar came to television. I can remember as a kid on Memorial day when the Indy 500 would come on Grandpa and Mom’s brothers would listen on the radio. Wow I sound old !!!!   

This year in our travels we toured Daytona Speedway. The tour was great too. I walked up the finish line and boy is it steep like walking up a steep roof.

    

We or I had a great time with our visit at this historic race track. I know that’s cause I have some Red Neck in me.

 

Our tour took us all over the track, victory circle to the pits and the Nascar Sky Boxes.

The tunnel is so big that two Semi’s and golf carts can go thru at the same time.

Jimmy Johnson was the winner of this years race. The car was taken from Victory Lane to the display. Wow win the race and Loose your car.

My all time favorite driver Cale Yarbrough, heck I watched him at SantaFe Raceway one night.

Well we couldn’t go to Daytona with out driving on the beach. The weather was cool that day so not too many people. Heck I almost got Old Blue stuck in the soft sand. Thanks to the 4 WD we got out I guess that’s why the sign said Soft Sand Keep Out !!! 

The Sand Police were not playing with the speed limit. Marti was Happy Happy to see the beach and wanted to go into the water. I told her I would see Ice Caps out in the Water !!!
